Drums are really well programmed! and the melody is great if not a bit repetitive, I would've added a few more instruments throughout e.g. basses, and pads. personally I didn't like any of it after the 2:50 mark as for the harshness of the synths ruined the atmosphere you created but everything before that was awesome. The intro sounds a lot like something of the analord series.

jambrother2 responds:

thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Also thanks for the constructive feedback. I, myself was a little unsure about that synth, I just wanted to throw some contrast into the mix, perhaps it was a little too much contrast.
Thanks again!

yeah I really enjoyed this man. definitely got an underwater vibe to it. that lead synth really adds to the atmosphere you're going for. My only gripe is with the mixing. I think the pads are lush and have give the tune a lot of movement if not a bit loud. the arpeggio keeps the momentum going though I wish there was a bit more playfulness with it. the piano was a nice touch but could've benefited with a more stereo enhancing effects and panning. With a few more touches to the mix this could be a great piece and would really suit a cool trippy game!

SoundGalaxyOfficial responds:

Thank you for your advice!
Yes I'm still struggling when it comes to mixing, so I'm trying to use your tips here guys to achieve at least an OK mix.
So I'm on it!
Thanks again!

synths, melodies and FX sound great! not my style of dnb but still good although it does seem a bit empty in the middle. The main thing letting the tune down is the drums. they sound really flat and squashed like fuck. Also I'm not really hearing much low end. The drums and bass are essential in DnB!

Anyway I can tell it's a work in progress so all this can be fixed! keep it up mate. Would love to hear the finished thing.

sYrge responds:

Now that I listen to this again, there is definitely not enough bass, so I completely agree with you. The mastering issues and the drums should be fixed in the end. Thanks so much for the feedback! :)

You crack me up hahaa

Loved everything up until 1:30! great vibe and lots of interesting stuff going on.

Dylpex responds:

I appreciate it. And I'm glad you liked it. I also agree with you on the transition in 1:30, don't know what I was thinking

Drums sound great and punchy and the mix is okay, that amen break could do with better EQing and some of the synths are bit over powering and masking the drums a bit (very noticeable at around 2:00) The arrangements great and awesome melodies though I wouldn't really call this DnB, way too slow! Crank it up to at least 165BPM and maybe but still the overall feeling of the tune would suit a game more than a club.

a beautiful piece! I only wish it was longer. I slightly agree with Rich209 about the octave. I still like the melody in the high octaves but maybe if the left hand arpeggios were down and octave?

A nice tune with potential.

The pads and piano sound great, I like the chord progressions and the bass is perfect for liquid if not a bit quiet. it's a very chilled tune and has a lot of potential but the drums are really throwing me off man. They sound really wavy like you keep automating the volume or you have a tremolo effect on the drum buss or something! I would personally keep them at a consistant level, maybe boost a little on the drop for more impact.

I think the intro could use a bit more work and you could be a bit more playful with FX rather than just using the odd reverse crash every now and then.

I also think the tune could be a bit longer.

SierraRising responds:

You are correct in that the hats and percussion had an automated phaser, and some side-chaining that might have thrown the volume off a bit. I'll try and look into that in future projects, as well as some more original risers for build-ups and backgrounds.
As for length, I seem to have a problem with repetition in my melodies, so I'm keeping my tracks shorter for the time being, until I can come up with longer/less repetitive sequences.
Thank you very much for the kind review, its always nice to get helpful feedback.

Lovely bit I think it could do with a bit more work!

I think the piano sounds great, the reverb you used is brilliant and everything is mixed great.

I think the tune would've benefited with some large impact sounds do go with the reverse crashes.

The choir sounds great though I wish the notes were legato and slided into eachother or had some strings in the back to compliment them.

I like the polyrhythmic shakers but I personally wouldn't of panned them hard left and right, though it still works.

Still a great job though mate.

NyxTheShield responds:

I am still searching for a good reeverbkick for the reverse crashes (My HDD crapped and i lost all of my VEC/VEH amples :c)

I will touch up the chorus a bit now that you mention it, i think i can use legato (Still new to knotak samples hahaha)

Great melodies and harmonies, really beautiful mate good work.
